venice and the d700

after traveling to finland to work with the lovely jenni and simon last weekend i detoured home through italy where i got to try out nikon's new d700 in the incomparable city of venice. never having been to italy before it was an amazing first visit to the country. i was able to pry myself away from the prosciutto, gelato, and pizza long enough to take thousands of images.

first of all, the d700 is a great camera. having been a d3 shooter for many months now it was great fun to test out this new body. the d700 is a 12.1 megapixel camera with a fx-format cmos sensor. in english - it's full-frame and delicious. it was a pleasure to be able to clean my sensor with just a click of a menu button and to carry such a light body and receive a break from the weight of the d3! to read more about the technical details from nikon themselves, click here.

the camera was light, quick, very responsive and i was really impressed with the color, density, and dynamic range of the files. this will absolutely take a place in my bag and i was pleased to be able to work with it this past week.

if you've never been to venice - GO. your taste buds will thank you! maybe wait for the dollar to catch up (changing money at the bank was beyond painful) but if you ever get a chance to experience this city you should : i've seen nothing like it before and would jump at the chance to go back!
