The Colony Club Wedding Photographer

Two of my favorite moments during a wedding reception are the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance. I love watching a bride dancing with her father and I love the moments between the groom and his mother. I especially loved watching the bride dance with her father at this Colony Club wedding in New York City in the fall of 2011. Manhattan weddings have a special charm and the Colony Club is a quintessentially old New York venue with great elegance and warmth. The relationship between this bride and her father is fantastic and she simply exudes a joy that is beautiful to see. As with many of my dancing photographs at wedding receptions my assistant helped me with lighting by standing off to the side of the dance floor with an external flash. This provided directional lighting and helps to give the final image drama and separation. I am never looking to overwhelm the lighting in the space and make it look like something that it’s not but merely to enhance what is already there. Location: 564 Park Ave, New York, NY 10065.
