New Jersey Engagement Photographer

Photographing engagement sessions is such a joy. The engagement process is full of planning and decision-making, but it’s also a wonderful time of anticipation and excitement. This particular engagement session took place in Morristown, New Jersey, near the bride’s parents’ house. Many couples struggle with deciding where to take their engagement portraits, but don’t let it overwhelm you! Don’t feel that you have to go to any popular location, just because a blog suggests that you do so. I have written up some suggestions of locations here on my website, but you truly should choose a place you love. I’ve photographed engagement sessions in apartments, in local parks, at favorite childhood locations, and even at the bride or groom’s workplace. I adore this image, because it was taken in a place that was near and dear to the bride’s heart. I love the beautiful fall light and gorgeous leaves. I love that the leaves on the ground so perfectly mirror the leaves on the trees. I can see this image hanging in their home, a gorgeous landscape as well as a beautiful engagement portrait. I chose to document this image with my beloved Nikon 70-200mm lens, compressing the couple beautifully off of the dark background. Did I have to run a long way down that path to shoot this image at 180mm? Yes, I did. I absolutely think the extra exercise was worth it! The cloudy white balance on the Nikon D810 enhanced the gold color in the trees, and the gorgeous files of the D810 really allowed for a great tonal range in the final print.
