Wedding Details

Every year that I ran my wedding photography business in Florida I was worried about hurricane season. All of my wedding industry colleagues were as well. We never knew when a hurricane would derail a clients’ plans, forcing a postponement or an emergency cancellation. When I moved to New York I breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that those worried days of hurricane season were behind me. Tragically, they were not. In 2012, superstorm Sandy barreled towards New York….stranding me in Florida. I realize that is a bit humorous. I left Florida for New York, only to find myself stuck in Florida when a hurricane hit the northeast! I had traveled to Orlando to shoot a wedding at Walt Disney World, knowing that Sandy was traveling to New York at the same time. I made this lovely image of the bride’s dress in her getting ready room at Disney’s Grand Floridian resort. I love the dress juxtaposed against the oceanside scene in the wall painting. Entered into the Wedding Division : Wedding Details of the WPPI 16x20 print competition in Las Vegas in 2013, this image received a score of 80. 1/160; f/5.0; ISO 800; 85.0 mm.
