As the best Manhattan wedding photographer, sometimes I encounter things that I've never seen before. This crazy reception shot is a great example of that!
I have no idea what in the world is going on in this image. No really, I don’t. I was cheerfully shooting a nice wedding reception at the Abigail Kirsch venue at the New York Botanical Gardens when all of a sudden one of the groomsmen was wearing an eye mask and there was a lot of screaming.
That’s the wonderful thing about shooting weddings - you seriously never have any idea of what’s about to happen!
Because of the fast-moving nature of wedding receptions I make sure that the gear I carry is always at the ready for any situation that I might find myself in, including crazy dancing groomsmen wearing eye masks. I had my Nikon 35mm lens on my D3s camera with a SB910 speed light on my camera as well as another off-camera held by my assistant. The second I saw this moment unfold we were ready for it!New York Botanical Gardens (24), New York City (207), Stone Mill (24). 1/60; f/4.0; ISO 1000; 35.0 mm.
