Mallard Island Yacht Club Wedding PhotographerOne of my favorite things to photograph on a wedding day is the preparation of the bride before the ceremony. It is a wonderful opportunity to document the interactions between the bride and her bridesmaids as well as the bride and her family. Whether or not the bride and groom are going to see each other before the ceremony for a first look this time of day is full of joyous photojournalistic moments. From the anticipation of putting on her dress to the nerves that arise before she gets into the limo bound for the church I truly relish in every moment that I am able to capture. At this exquisite Mallard Island Yacht Club wedding the bride was getting her hair and makeup done in the enormous bridal suite and took a quick moment to study her reflection in a handheld mirror. I chose to shoot this scene with my Nikon 85mm f/1.4 lens so that I could focus directly on the bride’s face at f/1.4 and have glorious bokeh in the background. The light streaming through the windows to my right illuminated the bride’s face for the final photograph.
