Wedding Reception at the Bowery Hotel

There is always something so lovely about the first dance between the bride and groom at a wedding reception. Whether it’s a finely choreographed ballroom spectacular, a tradition-defying fast number, or just a few minutes of the bride and groom holding each other and swaying to their favorite song, it’s a great opportunity to create beautiful photographs. At this Bowery Hotel wedding the bride and groom had a gorgeous first dance with beautiful light. I was able to use the light the videographers had set up as an additional light source, supplementing the off-camera light that my assistant is holding for me. I love that both light sources combined with a long lens create an intimate first dance portrait that also features dramatic lighting suited to the venue and the event itself. This was a perfectly classic New York wedding and this dramatic black and white image embodies that old world Manhattan feel. Location: 335 Bowery, New York, NY 10003.
