Buttermilk Falls Wedding

I have always loved the Hudson Valley. There is something about the rustic charm of the rolling hills and valleys, the slow pace of life, and the wonderful coziness of the weddings that take place in this magical area. Nowhere is more magical than Buttermilk Falls, an incredible estate right in that spectacular valley.

If you want to have a destination wedding close enough to drive to New York (it's only 75 miles away from Manhattan in Milton, New York!), Buttermilk Falls will be the place for you. Rent the entire estate for the weekend and celebrate in style : there is no need to leave this incredible property at all!

Where can we have our ceremony and reception?

Many clients are drawn to Buttermilk Falls because of the beautiful scenery, so it only makes sense that many ceremonies take place on the gorgeous sweeping lawn near the pond.

There are two completely unique reception spaces at Buttermilk Falls. One is the Reception Patio, a charming outdoor space with views of the Hudson River. The other is the Barn at Buttermilk, an intimate-feeling sweeping space. I love the sweeping high wooden ceilings of the barn - candlelight really emphasizes the warm amber glow of this romantic, rustic venue. You can also put a tent on the property if that's your particular aesthetic!

Where can we take our wedding pictures?

The real question here would be where can't you take your wedding pictures? Want a pond with swans in it? Buttermilk has it. Weeping willow trees? Those are here, too. Rolling hills, gorgeous greenery, meticulously manicured lawns? Check, check, check. There are paved secluded paths. Scenic views. Spaces both wide open and intimately snuggly. In short, it's a photographer's dream - there are locations for portraits everywhere.

Along with the picturesque outdoor locations, the indoor spaces at Buttermilk Falls are also incredible options for photographs!

Can our guests stay here?

They absolutely can. The Inn has 18 rooms for guests to stay in. Some of these rooms are the Grand Laurel wedding suite, the North Cottage, the multiple carriage house suites, and the charming Riverknoll House. Per their website, Buttermilk Falls can host about 50 guests for a wedding weekend.

Does Buttermilk have an on-site caterer?

They do. Their catering is from Henry’s at the Farm, which is the restaurant at the Buttermilk Falls Inn.

What else can guests do nearby?

Why should we hire you to be our wedding photographer at Buttermilk Falls?

"Why you?" is always a great question. With so many wedding photographers to choose from, why me indeed?

I can give you the photography-based answer : I am a very good photographer, an exceptional photographer. I will make beautiful images for you at Buttermilk in the rain, the snow, with wind blowing the willow trees crazily in the distance, with the midday sun beating down on your heads, and when a timeline goes awry and we are working against the clock.

I will find locations at Buttermilk Falls that no other photographer has found. Unique patches of light, brand-new views of scenic landscapes, gorgeous corners in your getting-ready space that are just perfect for photography. I have a unique eye and way of looking at light, and that suits the incredible-ness of Buttermilk perfectly.

Above and beyond that, I will be a resource for you. I will help you with your timeline. I will help you with vendor recommendations. I will be on your side, helping you have your day exactly how you want it. I'd love to talk to you about what you're looking for, how you envision spending your weekend, and what you're looking for with your photography. I do hope you get in touch soon!
