The Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts is a phenomenal wedding venue in Katonah, New York. Caramoor was first created by Walter T. and Lucie Bigelow Rosen as a country getaway. After years of concerts and opening their home to the arts, the couple chose to turn their home into an art and music center after their deaths. From the exquisite art collection in the Rosen House to the glorious Music Room, Caramoor is full of extraordinary pieces.
Brides Magazine once called Caramoor one of the Best Wedding Venues in the US, and it’s easy to see why it made the list. The number of venues on the property is staggering, and offer so many choices to potential wedding clients. For a wedding of two hundred and fifty dinner guests, the Reception Tent and Italian Pavilion are a wonderful choice. You can seat your guests for dinner and still have room to dance the night away! Cocktail hour usually takes place in the Italian Pavilion, situated conveniently right next to the Italian Pavilion.
If you’re having a large wedding, up to eight hundred guests for dinner, you might want to consider the Venetian Theater. A enormous tent covers the surrounding columns, creating a magical atmosphere for a wedding.
If your wedding is on the smaller side, and you want it to take place outdoors, consider the Spanish Courtyard. Placed near the Rosen House, this outdoor space features a partly covered stage. The decidedly Spanish-influenced architecture is beautiful, and the perfect choice for an outdoor celebration.
If your wedding is a truly intimate affair, consider seating your up to fifty guests for dinner in the Formal Dining Room and Music Room. It’s a home-like atmosphere, and a wonderfully warm indoor space. If you want your dinner to feel like you’re right at home, this might be the perfect wedding location for you.
For a three hundred guest cocktail hour, consider the Tapestry Hedge. You can have a truly outdoor event there, or choose from Caramoor’s many options to tent the space. My favorite location, however, is the Sunken Garden. It is a flawless choice for an outdoor wedding ceremony location in Katonah. The garden features three tiers, sloping upwards towards the ceremony location, aptly called Medieval Mount. Your guests will watch the ceremony from the lowest tiers, and it makes for a truly dramatic ceremony setup.
One of the best things about a Caramoor wedding is the limitless number of portrait locations. The different on-site venues all feature different styles of architecture, so your backgrounds can vary dramatically. The landscaping is also stellar, providing beautiful surroundings for your wedding day photos.
If you’re getting married in Katonah, Caramoor is a wonderful wedding venue to consider. If you are looking for a wedding venue in New York, just a short drive from Manhattan, Caramoor is a very easy place to travel to. It’s a true oasis outside of the city, and a wonderful wedding venue!
