Manhattan Engagement Photo LocationsI love photographing couples with their pets. But where do you do that in the city? Manhattan portrait sessions are sometimes logistically tricky. With the streets and parks so crowded, where can you go to create the illusion that you’re alone? Some New York portrait clients want to incorporate the city into their images, and what better place to do that than Manhattan’s Union Square? Union Square is beautifully located, with the Flatiron District to the north, Greenwich Village to the southwest, Chelsea on it’s west, and Gramercy Park to it’s east. Is Union Square crowded? Yes, it is. Can be it difficult to navigate? Yes, it can. Is it completely worth it? Absolutely. I loved spending this gorgeous afternoon with this amazing couple and their charming dog. It’s so much fun when clients choose to incorporate their pets into their engagement sessions. If you do choose to bring your pet to your portrait session, however, I highly suggest bringing along another person to help wrangle that pet! At this session, the bride’s parents met us thirty minutes into the session to take the dog home. This enabled us to get great portraits with the dog, and then some more great portraits of the couple alone without their pet. I love this great moment between the couple and the dog. I’ve gotten to know them over the years, and I know how much this sweet animal means to the both of them. He’s a part of their family, and this portrait will be a record of that family for years to come.
