It was an enormous honor to be the wedding photographer for these two extraordinary gentlemen.
It is nothing short of a miracle when two people find each other. Sometimes, as in the case of these two grooms, one half of the couple had to travel halfway around the world to find his soulmate. Witnessing the incredibly intimate and private ceremony between these two men was one of my favorite moments of my entire wedding photography career.
When I was photographing the portraits of these newlywed grooms, I knew that I had to create portraits that reflected the intimacy and tenderness of the day itself. For that reason, I reached for my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, knowing that I would be shooting this lens at the absolute longest length possible.
The beautiful compression of this incredible lens all the way out at 200mm seemed to separate the grooms from the background in a really unique way. The background became a beautiful element in the photograph, serving to further create an atmosphere of intimacy and beauty.
I absolutely love that changing this image from color to black and white truly help highlight the emotion of this portrait. There were no bright colors to distract you from the incredible joy on the faces of these two men.1/400; f/4.0; ISO 160; 200.0 mm.
