Wedding Photojournalism WPPI
There are a lot of wonderful things about traditional wedding photography. I think there is a huge skill involved in posing, setting up, and creating dynamically beautiful traditional wedding images. Many people thing that wedding photojournalism is as simple as "taking candids." It’s not. It’s as wickedly difficult as traditional wedding photorgaphy and requires a massive set of skills and technique. You have to be in the right place at the right time, anticipating the moments unfolding in front of you without staging or prompting. You have to find the light without being able to tell your clients where to stand or move. You have to compose the image beautifully without interruption. You have to think of all of those things - and you still have to make the clients beautiful! This is why I am drawn to a more documentary style of work and why I feel that this image reflects that aesthetic. Entered into the Photojournalism Division : Wedding Photojournalism of the WPPI 16x20 print competition in Las Vegas in 2013, this image received a score of 81.Keywords: Arts Ballroom (12), Park Hyatt at the Bellevue (5), philadelphia (157).
