When something old transforms into something hip and new, what you have the perfect place to get married, and that venue is called the Basilica Hudson. Once a 19th-century factory, this exceptional wedding venue, home to several concerts, is located just steps from the Hudson Amtrak Station on the riverfront of the historic Hudson River, it has been lovingly transformed into a modern location for couples to hold the wedding of their dreams.
One of the things I love about working with couples at the Basilica Hudson is that no one has to compromise their vision. Painstakingly restored brick, barn doors, and wrought iron have become an industrial canvas luxurious with textures where couples can decorate the space to match their personalities and truly bring to life their vision for their wedding, making it feel like a place of their own.
I love the imagery created at the front of the Basilica Hudson, where vintage red bricks with vibrant climbing vines mesh with unusual windows that reflect blue skies. Along the rusty railroad tracks, abandoned road, and short grass, it’s a more industrial side of nature, which gives photos an entirely different feel. The rustic romance of the Basilica Hudson and views of the Catskills provide the perfect backdrop.
With 2,000 square feet of aged brick, mirrors, and window bays, the Bridal Loft provides the perfect place to get ready. There is tons of ambient light, which is the ideal space for your bridal party to help you get ready. These are often some of the most natural and touching moments of the day, and the simplicity of the hardwood floors and massive windows allows me to capture these moments easily. Barn doors, old leather couches, and comfy chairs provide a relaxed environment that your bridal party will appreciate.
Ceremonies are commonly held in the North Hall, where guests can be seated in a charming collection of fun and funky office chairs stadium seating style, or you can enter thru the French doors, walk down an aisle created by your closest family and friends to say “I do” on tiered. Soaring brick walls are lined with windows, so while your guests are safe from the elements in a climate-controlled venue, they are surrounded by stunning views of the Catskills.
Receptions are usually in the Main Hall where guests enter through antique French doors and are greeted by a canopy of iron crossbars laced with Edison lights. A soaring ceiling and still more windows create an open feel while the farm-style tables stretched out will still make the 7,000 square feet feel intimate and inviting. As night falls, stars mix with the warm glow of Edison lighting to create fantastic and candid reception images. Best of all, your overall carbon footprint is incredibly low when you factor in that the Basilica Hudson runs entirely off a solar panel array.
Add to all of this over 10,000 square feet of outdoor space, and the freedom to work with any outside vendors you wish to hire; the Basilica Hudson gives couples the chance to truly be themselves on their wedding day. This is something I truly value, and something I love to do: authentically capture and tell the story of two people in love. Set against the industrial, romantic vibe of this truly unique venue, The Basilica Hudson is truly a gem of a wedding venue in the Hudson Valley.
