Yes

Why do you recommend it?

Built-in 1889 as a brass foundry, The Green Building has been restored into 6,000 square feet of the hippest, most elegantly industrial indoor and outdoor event space. Nestled among in the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn’s Carrol Gardens neighborhood, this historic building is one-part adventure, one-part rustic and all parts charm. An industrial vibe that welcomes couples to bring their vision to life without comprise, it’s the perfect venue intimate gatherings as well as big blow-outs.

This simple, but elegant space is made up of the Main Hall and the Outdoor Area. Inside the Main Hall flowing draperies add an element of romance to the aged white brick. Waves of fabric float along with the ceiling dancing with the pipes of the exposed beam ceiling and mingling with the warm light of the candelabra style chandeliers.

Family and friends dine at farm-style tables on catered meals prepared in the professional kitchen. The mobile wood bar feels more like a mantle where the fun begins and less like a place where a line does. The whole room, with its varied textures and historical glamour, feels open, relaxed, and trendy without even trying. I love the abundant natural light which cascades across the center of the room, creating a natural alter which is perfect for portraiture.

Often, the ceremony and the reception take place in the Main Hall, where expert staff quickly and easily flip the room. However, some couples like to have their ceremony outside in the open patio where mixed wood and brick textures open up to views of Brooklyn and blue skies. In the evening, when the stars come out, strings of Edison lights light up the fun outside giving guests space to get some fresh air.

This space is beautifully flexible and can be tented by a third-party during winter months. One extremely popular feature is the ability to host food trucks stationed just outside the 15-foot floor-to-ceiling glass doors, adding a little modern excitement to a classic event.

I always enjoy the challenge of capturing a couple in urban settings. The black and green brickwork of The Green Building adds an old-world feel when they park their 1929 Model T pick-up truck, which makes for a unique backdrop. The rustic-chic vibe mixed with tin ceilings is a photographer’s playground and makes for fantastic candid and formal wedding portraits.

What’s cooler than a gathering of your closest friends and family shedding a few tears when you say, “I do,” and letting loose with laughter and funky dance moves after dinner…? How about having them find the secret hidden door inside the coat check room that leads to two prohibition era-inspired rooms that can be utilized as a secret bar or photo booth?

A little bit of love, a lot of fun with a side of speakeasy: it doesn’t get any cooler than that.
