Built in 1911 as a 140-room Vanderbilt Mansion, the Sleepy Hollow Country Club rises above rolling acres of manicured grounds in Scarborough-on-Hudson in Briarcliff, New York. Woodlea, as the clubhouse is known, has been home to some of the most extravagant events and parties for over one hundred years. It has marble fireplaces, coffered ceilings, and extensive carved wood details. The 18th-century décor sets the stage for a memorable day at a historic place.
At the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, each room, and every hallway, offers a fantastic place to be creative with wedding couples. A favorite spot is a curved staircase with wrought iron details, a candelabra sconce, and a giant stained glass picture window, which is nothing short of portrait magic.
Getting ready is relaxing and natural, with several rooms to choose from to accommodate your wedding party. They are filled with tons of ambient light and high ceilings. This makes it easy to creatively capture all the moments of excitement and connection as you prepare for your ceremony.
The West Terrace Tent is a popular ceremony and reception site. It accommodates up to 400 guests on the stone terrace while protecting them from the elements while bathing the room in ambient light. With its cascading fabric covering the ceiling and flowing down the walls, the on-site tent adds a touch of whimsy.
Indoor ceremonies and receptions can be held in several rooms, each with turn-of-the-century character. Curved walls and alcoves with antique details, and crystal chandeliers with lights that twinkle and warm the room, the space feels grand and classical. Family and friends can enjoy a cocktail hour on the expansive lawn taking in the sunset and the gorgeous vistas, or in the library, which is drenched in books and antiques, creating a myriad of textures.

The landscaping near the Clubhouse - This beautiful area is located on the club's property and features a variety of colorful flowers and foliage, including roses, hydrangeas, and perennials. It has a very different feel from the golf course area, making it a great additional location for photos.
The Clubhouse exterior- I love taking wedding party and family photos on the steps outside the Clubhouse, either in the front or leading down to the cocktail hour lawn.
The Clubhouse - Sleepy Hollow's elegant Georgian-style mansion features classic architectural details, including a grand staircase, fireplace, and high ceilings. The interior is decorated in a classic, refined style, with plush furnishings, antique accents, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The Golf Course - Sleepy Hollow's 27-hole golf course offers scenic locations. Rolling hills, lush greenery, and sweeping views of the Hudson River provide a picturesque setting to capture outdoor portraits. The course features several wooden footbridges, a stone staircase, and even a small waterfall, all providing unique photo opportunities. Don't forget to ask for a golf cart to take us around or else we'll be walking for a long time!
Hudson River - Sleepy Hollow is situated on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River, providing sweeping views of the water and the surrounding landscape. This location is ideally suited to capturing dramatic and romantic portraits of couples against a river backdrop.
