Crossed Keys Inn Wedding Photographer

Ever since moving to the New York area in 2008 I have wanted to work at the Crossed Keys Inn. I saw it on a venue blog when I was researching my new market and was immediately smitten. This charming venue, set sweetly back from the road in Andover, New Jersey, is intimate and warm. The bride was preparing for her ceremony in the Playhouse and I decided to scope out a new location to take a portrait of her dress. I almost chose the sweet juliet balcony near the honeymoon cottage but ended up with a completely different take - I took the dress under the building itself! My assistant and I worked carefully to keep the dress clean while hanging it from the beams supporting the structure, positioning it close to the light source. I carefully framed the image with the shadows so that when I exposed correctly for the dress the rest of the scene darkened down considerably. I love this portrait of the dress because it shows the environment in a new and different way, a way I’ve not seen any other wedding photographer at that venue do.

Location: 289 Pequest Rd, Andover, NJ 07821.
