Museum of the Moving Image Wedding

When my youngest daughter was looking for high schools, we started touring performing arts schools in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. We ended up at Frank Sinatra High School, a spectacular performing arts conservatory-style high school in Astoria.

The first time we toured the property, I was struck by a nearby location - what was the Museum of the Moving Image?

Turns out, it is a spectacular place. The Museum of the Moving Image is one of the only museums in the US that is specifically geared towards all forms of moving images : art, technique, history, and technology. Spanning the history of the moving image as an art form, this fascinating space is interactive, impressive, and groundbreaking all at once.

Located on the campus of the Kaufman Astoria Studios, The Museum of the Moving Image is easy to get to : it’s right in Astoria, Queens. There are nearby subways (the R/M and N/W), easy to park at nearby lots, easy to get to by bus, and quick car ride in from Manhattan.

As a wedding venue, there is nothing quite like The Museum of the Moving Image. It’s a nearly blank space to create your event, while also allowing access to the interactive galleries throughout the wedding. There is even outdoor courtyard space lined with trees, weather permitting!

With the capacity of up to 265 guests, there is a lot that you can do with the clean white spaces that are available for ceremonies, receptions, dinners, and dancing. You can even get married in the theater, which is a truly unique space.

Amenities include planning services, a dressing area, a dance floor, a coat check room, and a day-of coordinator. You can utilize the venue’s projectors to personalize your day even further!

Unique. Modern. Slick. Quirky. And oh-so New York, this venue is really a must-see space. And for photography? It’s simply a dream. Full of fantastic spaces for wedding day photography, nearby to incredible other outdoor spaces for portraits, and chock-full of unique locations…well, it must be seen to be believed.

If you’re planning a Museum of the Moving Image wedding, I’d love to talk to you about your photography needs!
