Tyler Hanes

Tyler Hanes is an American singer, actor, and dancer.  He is from the Atlanta area, and studied at Pebblebrook High School, then CCCEPA, which is the performing arts magnet school in Cobb County.  Tyler also studied at the Atlanta Ballet, and he earned two scholarships to study at Ann Reinking's prestigious Broadway Theater Project.  He eventually studied at Carnegie Mellon, after deferring for a year to perform in Fosse.

Tyler Hanes has been seen on Broadway in Urban Cowboy, Sweet Charity, Oklahoma!, Hairspray, The Frogs, The Boy From Oz, and in the original revival company of Chorus Line.

Tyler Hanes can currently be seen, as of the 2016 Broadway season, in the revival of Cats as Rum Tum Tugger.  This revival also stars Leona Lewis as "Grizabella," Shonica Gooden as "Rumpleteazer," Christopher Gurr as "Gus/Bustopher Jones," Eloise Kropp as "Jennyanydots / Gumbie," Jess Leprotto as "Mungojerrie," Georgina Pazcoguin as "Victoria," and Ricky Ubeda as "Mistoffelees."

In the New York Times, Charles Isherwood said "Mr. Hanes is magnetic as Rum Tum Tugger."  This magnetism is evident in every image of Mr. Hanes, from the jeans-and-leather-jacket Rum Tum Tugger swagger of the start of the shoot, to the debonair tuxedo-clad end of the session.  It was a joy to work with Tyler Hanes, and it's a joy to watch him perform.  Any Broadway theatre-goer who has the chance to see him as the Rum Tum Tugger will not be disappointed.
