Prince George Ballroom Wedding

A Prince George Ballroom wedding is always a unique affair. I have yet to find any location in Manhattan for a wedding that encapsulates the extraordinary quirk and charm of the Prince George Ballroom.

History of the Prince George Ballroom

The Prince George Ballroom was built in 1094. This Beaux Arts style ballroom, set in the Madison Square neighborhood of Manhattan, was truly a sight to behold. The Prince George Hotel, where the Prince George Ballroom was located, was a popular location for artists and tourists alike. After the tourism industry declined and homelessness rose in the late 1980's, many boutique New York hotels struggled to remain afloat. In 1989, the Prince George Hotel was closed.

In 2005, the Prince George Ballroom was reopened and fully restored to its' former glory.

Location of the Prince George Ballroom

Located perfectly in the Flatiron district, the Prince George Ballroom is the perfect spot for a classical New York wedding. Amazing for smaller and mid-sized events, the ballroom is a true hidden gem in a busy, bustling neighborhood. The ballroom can hold a maximum of three hundred guests, six hundred for a cocktail reception. There is no outdoor location, but the indoor space more than makes up for that.

I was honored to photograph this Prince George Ballroom wedding in the summer of 2016. The bride got ready at a hotel in the neighborhood, and the ceremony was at a church right around the corner from the Prince George Ballroom. The cocktail hour took place outside the Prince George Ballroom, with the reception taking place in the ballroom itself.

Wedding vendors at the Prince George Ballroom

Event coordination was by Danielle Bobish of Curtain Up Events. The bride's hair and makeup were done by Sharon Becker of SB Beauty. Videography was provided by NST Pictures. The DJ was from Scratch Weddings. The florist was Twisted Willows. The extraordinary catering was by Thomas Preti.

I truly enjoyed my first Prince George Ballroom wedding, and I hope to be back there again soon!
