Oh, the Basilica Hudson! I cannot sing the praises of this unique wedding venue enough.
The light pours through the windows brilliantly, creating gorgeous pools of sunlight that shift as the day goes by. The outdoor space is picturesque and idyllic. The indoor space is so photogenic that it hurts.
This amazing Hudson, New York venue is one of the most extraordinary spaces that I’ve ever had the honor of documenting a wedding. Nestled sweetly in the charming town of Hudson, New York, everything about this entire weekend was picture-perfect.
I started the day with the bride and groom at the Union Street Guest House, where I had a few moments alone with the bride’s details before the day truly got going.
I took everything outdoors, hoping I could find some unique locations in the Union Street Guest House’s quirky courtyard.
I ended up sitting the groom’s ring on a glittery silver purse, the silver of the purse perfectly offsetting the silver of the groom’s band. I love that the texture on the groom’s ring is the bride’s fingerprint. It’s such a uniquely romantic gesture that was perfectly befitting this delightful, joyous couple.
This was one of my favorite images of 2014, and I excitedly entered it into the 2015 WPPI 16x20 print competition. While it didn’t score the score I felt it deserved, I was still very proud of it. The richness of the final print is truly beautiful, with the gorgeous paper really showing off the beautiful texture of the fingerprint. I wish I could have been in the room when this image was judged, but alas - I was out shooting a wedding back in Philadelphia!
