Mallard Island Yacht Club Wedding PhotographersAfter photographing the bride getting ready in the bridal suite at the Mallard Island Yacht Club I found myself with a few additional minutes that I used to steal her away for several bridal portraits. This particular bridal suite has floor-to-ceiling windows lining several of the walls in the room and the suite is always filled with brilliant light. I asked the bride to sit near one of the windows so that the light fell on her face but fell off around her. This was important since I wanted a dark background and by exposing properly for her face the background sunk into shadows. I used my beloved Nikon 85mm f/1.4 lens to take this bridal portrait. I find that this particular angle is flattering to everyone and this is a quick and easy way to create a beautiful portrait of a bride in almost any getting-ready room that you will come across as a wedding photographer. All you need is some soft light, a good 85mm lens, and a client you have connected with and you’ve got your shot!
