St. Simons Wedding PhotographySt. Simons Island is near and dear to my heart since I vacationed many times with my young daughters on nearby Jekyll Island, Georgia. The Lighthouse on St. Simons is an especially picturesque location for an outdoor summer wedding. in 2011 I traveled down to St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the wedding of a bride I had known since I was a wedding and portrait photographer in Tallahassee, Florida. I had photographed her headshots while she was a student at Florida State University, and she had kept in touch and stayed familiar with my wedding photography work ever since. Is always an honor when I am invited back to photograph more than one occurrence for a client, and photographing this bride’s wedding after I had worked with her many years prior was incredibly touching. The bride got ready for her Lighthouse wedding surrounded by three bridesmaids and two flower girls. I love this image because it shows the natural interaction between all six of these ladies. I deliberately placed the bride next to the slightly open window so that the light coming in would cascade across her face precisely. When I have multiple people interacting in one photo I want to make sure that everyone’s reaction is genuine and heartfelt. I simply set the stage for this moment to happen and then stepped back and let the bridesmaids and flower girls help get the bride dressed. The resulting image is purely documentary in nature, and none of the emotions were forced or prompted.
